In a recent blog post on Signals vs. Noise, Jason Fried said he describes himself as a “software tailor”, when asked about his daily chores.
That post really resonated with me - what’s an appropriate job title for those of us that handle just about every aspect of web design?
My business card currently says “Interaction Designer”, but that hardly fits the bill when your workflow run the gamut of sketching the interface to actually coding it, client- and server-side. (In an MVC pattern, with me doing View-specific stuff…)
I’ve always been a firm believer of seeing things through, and refuse to settle for just wearing one hat. I believe this is a key component in creating a good, coherent, user experience – making sure that everything comes out as planned.
That means taking care of UX/IA/HTML/CSS/JS/SEO~ (fill in your favorite abbreviation). At most agencies I know, that would normally be different positions in the tech department - so I am either;
